چکیده

The vision of a worldwide computing grid evokes the scenario of electronic markets for grid services. For such a market, explicit formal statements of both obligations and guarantees regarding grid services in a business relationship are needed; these are referred to as service level agreements (SLAs). The objects of our investigation are current specifications and standards for SLAs. We address the problem that these approaches do not sufficiently fulfil requirements of business transactions, because they have been designed for other, technical objectives. We evaluate the most relevant SLA specifications and standards from an e-business transaction perspective, clarifying how they currently cover business transactions on e-markets, in particular which activities within market transactions they support. We assess the current state of SLA approaches and reveal room for possible enhancements.

A Layered Framework for Connecting Client Objectives and Resource Capabilities

In large-scale, distributed systems such as Grids, an agreement between a client and a service provider specifies service level objectives both as expressions of client requirements and as provider assurances. From Early Requirements to Business Processes with Service Level Agreements

When designing a service-based business process employing loosely-coupled services, one is not only interested in guaranteeing a certain flow of work, but also in how the work will be performed. This involves the consideration of non-functional properties which go from execution time, costs, up to security and trust. Ideally, a designer would like to have guarantees over the behavior of the ser...

However, the most prestigious languages for...

Language support for service-level agreements for application-service provision

My thesis is that practical language support can be provided for Service-Level Agreements (SLAs) for Application-Service Provision (ASP), which is better than that provided by pre-existing languages in that: it provides greater assistance in expressing conditions that mitigate the risks inherent in ASP; and disputes related to agreements expressed in this manner may be more easily resolved in s...
